Lundin Gold’s third quarter brought record mine production, a 52.3% earnings beat, strong cash flow and a US$1.14-per-share dividend. The next question is whether the company can maintain its margins as grades return to normal and planned maintenance affects fourth-quarter production.
Lundin Gold Inc. (TSX: LUG) reported its third-quarter 2026 results after market close on November 4. The earnings calendar lists EPS of US$1.721, compared with an estimate of US$1.13—a 52.3% beat. In its release, the company reported net income of US$293.8 million, or US$1.21 per basic share, and adjusted earnings of US$296.8 million, or US$1.23 per share. These are different measures, so the calendar’s EPS surprise should not be confused with the company’s reported basic or adjusted EPS.

For Canadian investors, the main story is record production, US$331 million in free cash flow and significant shareholder distributions. But the company also expects lower production in Q4.
Investor takeaway: Fruta del Norte generated substantial cash at strong realized gold prices, and Lundin Gold remains on track to meet its 2026 production and cost guidance. The declared US$1.14-per-share dividend stands out, but its variable portion depends on normalized free cash flow and the board’s discretion. Weigh the record quarter against lower expected Q4 production, shipment timing and uncertainty around Ecuador’s sovereign adjustment calculation. See the Lundin Gold stock page, including analyst ratings and the statistical price forecast.
US$1.721 EPS versus US$1.13 estimate
The earnings calendar shows a 52.3% surprise. Separately, Lundin Gold reported basic EPS of US$1.21 and adjusted EPS of US$1.23. These figures use different measures, so the calendar comparison is not the same as the company’s reported per-share results.
Bull case
Fruta del Norte produced a record 153,736 ounces, milling 535,711 tonnes at an average rate of 5,823 tonnes per day. Revenue rose to US$633 million from US$447 million a year earlier, and income from mining operations increased to US$467.7 million from US$305.2 million.
The average realized gold price was US$4,299 per ounce sold. Cash operating costs were US$862 per ounce, and all-in sustaining costs were US$1,037 per ounce. Lundin Gold generated US$376.9 million in operating cash flow and US$330.9 million in free cash flow. It ended the quarter with US$574 million in cash.
Production for the first nine months reached 392,472 ounces. Management said the company remains on track to meet its 2026 guidance of 475,000 to 525,000 ounces. Exploration results and a planned investment decision on FDN South and a mill expansion could support longer-term growth. For now, the company still needs to deliver at its existing mine.
Bear case
The record quarter may not reflect a typical production level. Management expects Q4 production to be the lowest of the year as grades return to normal and after scheduled mill maintenance completed in October. Gold sales have also trailed production year to date because of shipment timing. The company expects to sell most of the difference in Q4.
Ecuador’s sovereign adjustment calculation remains uncertain. Mediation is expected to begin early in the new year, but there is no firm timeline for a resolution. The variable dividend depends on normalized free cash flow and board discretion, so investors should not assume the latest payment will continue at the same level. LUG.TO also faces gold-price, operating, jurisdictional and project-expansion risks.
