COSCIENS Biopharma Inc., a life science company, develops and commercializes products for the cosmeceutical, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical markets in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and internationally. It operates through Active Ingredient and Pharmaceutical segments. The company offers active ingredients comprising oat beta glucan, a functional ingredient that supports overall health and wellness; oat powder and peptides; oat oil which is extracted from whole oat kernels by a gentle process that retains all the important biologically active components; and avenanthramides, a natural-based ingredients used to inflammation-based diseases for the cosmeceutical and pharmaceutical industries. It also provides Macrilen/Ghryvelin (macimorelin), an orally active peptidomimetic small molecule that stimulates the secretion of growth hormone from the pituitary gland. In addition, it focuses on the development and manufacturing of novel oral thin film products for the pharmaceutical market. The company sells its products through its distribution network. It has license agreements with Pharmanovia, Davimed GmbH, and NK MEDITECH Ltd, as well as Agriculture Canada, Canadian Government, and University of Alberta. The company was formerly known as Aeterna Zentaris Inc. and changed its name to COSCIENS Biopharma Inc. in August 2024. COSCIENS Biopharma Inc. was incorporated in 1990 and is based in Toronto, Canada.
